This 2ème Cru Classé St.-Estephe estate is a true Bordeaux classic. Often overlooked in favour of the more famous St.-Estephe wines from Ch. Cos d’Estournel, the wines of Ch. Montrose are almost always at least ‘good’, and are often amongst the very best wines of any Bordeaux vintage. Another interesting aspect, is that in the classic vintages of the 20th century, Ch. Montrose has a reputation for amazing longevity – this wines’ tannic structure needing an inordinate time in the cellar for the tannins to soften. Critics such as Robert Parker and Michael Broadbent have praised several vintages from the 1950s and 1960s for the pleasure they give to drink today. In our ten-vintage line up, we will include highlights from the 1990s and 1980s, as well as some of the classic Ch. Montrose vintages, including 1964 and 1955.
