How are the tasting events conducted?
All of our tastings will be seated, with one glass for each wine, unless otherwise advertised.
Seated tastings, where one glass is provided for each wine, is the best format for understanding a wine in context. One wine can be compared with another - in "flights" of 2 or 3 wines at a time. Colour, aroma and flavour can be easily compared, and we can go back and forth through the wines, learning as we go.
Tastings will often be led by The Fine Wine Experience's Linden Wilkie, who has a real passion for the subject. In other cases, we will have guest speakers, expert in the evening's subject, or the producers themselves.
While there will always be a "presentation", the aim of our events is for all of us to learn and to have fun. We believe that the best learning comes from interaction rather than monologue, and we encourage discussion on the wines during the events.
Unless otherwise advertised, events will start (promptly) at 6-30pm, and run until 8-00pm approximately.
