Moulin Touchais, Anjou, 1959

Region: -Loire
Type: Sweet
Rating: 86
Guide Price: 75.00

Original bottle, recorked at some point, ullage 1.5cms

Bright yellow; touch of volatile acidity dominates the bouquet at first, but this lifts with airing and reveals lanolin, wet wool, and apple aromas - real chenin; the palate initially reticent, and I felt a little stripped of fruit, later opened up a little more to a more earthy style of chenin, and reasonable richness.

Overall I liked this less than others at the tasting and it was a favourite for some in the 5 Moulin Touchais tried.

Tasting at our 'Loire Valley Sweet Classics' tasting, 27th January 2004.
