Fairly deep ruby, showing some development on the rim; a touch vegetal after the ’97, but with depth on the nose; moderate concentration, firmly structured, with crisp acidity and slightly hard tannins on the finish. However, there is good depth of fruit here. The wine should be kept in the cellar for now, or served with hearty food after decanting. - Linden Wilkie
Purple/ruby. Clean earthy nose of licorice and black fruit. Initial attack is green, but with good expansion and balance; nice plummy finish; silky smooth tannins, but not enough structure for the fruit. - Charles Darnell
Tasted at our Jaboulet Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’ Vertical Tasting, 30th March 2004.
