Fairly concentrated youthful ruby colour showing a touch of maturity on the rim; cracked pepper and blackfruits on the nose; good richness and weight on the palate, yet balanced and finely textured and ripe, flavoury tannins on the long finish. This is a great La Chapelle in the making. It’s fine enough to enjoy now, but will reward further cellaring. - Linden Wilkie
Crimson. Subtle exotic cherry pie nose (almost floral). Ripe balanced attack; med bodied style (but maybe deceptively so due to the ripe vintage); clean expansive and very long; silky tannins; quite nice; try again in 7-10 years. - Charles Darnell
Tasted at our Jaboulet Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’ Vertical Tasting, 30th March 2004.
