Developed colour – bricky with a ruby core; wonderful nose – very lifted aromas of herbs, tar, some leather, sweet spices and fruit; developed flavours on a sweet palate, soft, mature fruit with lowish acidity, followed by a tannic ‘bite’ on the long finish. Fully evolved and ready, though tannic. I loved this wine, though ultimately I think the fruit will subside before the tannins are every fully resolved. - Linden Wilkie
Brick w/ lightening at the edge. Focused and expressive violet and red berry nose. Ripe and medium bodied w/ powdery tannins; expressive and long; fully mature - very nice graceful feminine style, but should maintain at this level for 5-8 more years if well stored; should be a great food wine due to the tannins, but be careful w/ the lighter style (i.e. pork, poultry or lighter cheeses; not beef); tannins may never resolve, but they are light enough to avoid concern. - Charles Darnell
Tasted at our Jaboulet Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’ Vertical Tasting, 30th March 2004.
