Mid+ ruby colour with a developed rim; classic nose – cracked pepper, game, and fruit sweetness – fantastic; the palate has excellent weight and balance, a fine structure, firm ripe acidity and a ripe tannic finish. Drinking well with food, but will continue to improve in the cellar. (NB some in our tasting group thought the acidity a little ‘pinched’. For me it is classic Hermitage as a food wine). - Linden Wilkie
Brick w/ lightening at the edge. Deep complex earthy fruit w/ great secondary development on the nose. Palate is slightly green, but otherwise balanced w/ very good structure to the full body and very long finish; not enough fruit extraction to enjoy on its own; would be more pleasant w/ food. - Charles Darnell
Tasted at our Jaboulet Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’ Vertical Tasting, 30th March 2004.
