Developed colour, ruby core, bricky overall; ripe, developed aromas – herbal tea, and mineral; palate rich, tea-like with a slight ‘marmite’ quality, but clean, healthy and rich – quite savoury and fine with a long finish. For me, the sweetness of Pétrus fruit is missing. It is exotic, yes, but I would have liked to have seen this 5 years ago. What it offers now is soft, complex elegance – and it is very good, but not the great legend I expected, and it came from M. Moueix’s cellar.
Christian Moueix recalled the “perfect vintage” of 1982, and of the wine, remarked on its “elegance, complexity – what a pleasure”.
