1er Cru Classé, Pessac-Léognan
Transparent appearance, ruby core, garnet rim; rich, sweet nose – lovely fruit with tar, mineral and herbs; sweet, soft and approachable on the entry with soft seemless fruit on the mid-palate and ripe fine tannin on the finish. This is very fine, but lacks the mid-palate intensity that should be expected of a wine with a reputation for being “perfect”. (Those in our group who have had this before say this bottle didn’t perform as well as on previous experiences with it.)
Tasted at our Château Haut-Brion Vertical Tasting, 27th April 2004.
