1er Cru Classé, Pessac-Léognan
The most youthful of the ’90, ’89, ’88 in appearance – deep ruby core with a touch of age on the rim; a real cedar nose here, with sweet herbs and some oak evident still; lovely sweet entry, then the tannins really bite and close the wine down a little too much. The tannins are flavoury and there is some complexity on the finish. This is good wine, though fairly astringent.
Tasted at our Château Haut-Brion Vertical Tasting, 27th April 2004.
