1er Cru Classé, Graves
Some depth of colour at the core with a tawny, almost orange rim; earthy complex nose – cedar, tobacco, game meat; ripe, soft, rich mature flavours, good concentration, slightly metallic tannins – but the good news is that they are in proportion, and leave the finish savoury-sweet and fruity. A lovely wine, and in the context of fully mature first growths, undervalued.
Tasted at our Château Haut-Brion Vertical Tasting, 27th April 2004.
