1er Cru Classé, Graves
The big surprise of the night – and goes to show the potential performance of Ch Haut Brion in ‘off’ vintages. Surprising depth of colour – bricky rim; iodine, sweet mushroom and fruit on the nose – sound; some nice cedary fruit on the palate, lightish but sweet-flavoured on the finish. Quite delicious in fact. (The bottle I previously got to taste last year was not in as good shape as this one).
Tasted at our Château Haut-Brion Vertical Tasting, 27th April 2004.
