Clear garnet with amber rim – much more mature in appearance than the 1990; developed sweet nose, slightly prune-like, but delicious aromas; lighter-weight than the 1990 in the palate, leaner, with firm, slightly bitter tannins on the finish. Had thought less of this wine until the end of the tasting, when a re-taste revealed the wine opening up. Very fine.
