Fairly dense ruby with development on the rim – good colour; lovely sweet-savoury aroma. Here we go! Real complexity on the nose and wonderfully inviting to smell; lovely ripe fruit on entry and a thick, velvet texture, initially plush, but this turns quite tannic on the finish which is accentuated by a bit of alcoholic heat. This wine improved with air, but with its noticeable alcohol on the finish, for me, it will never come into balance to be a ‘great’ Lafleur.
