1èr Cru Classé, Margaux
Still deep – opaque core with developed but healthy rim; sweet, lifted bouquet, floral, and with a leathery note denoting the tannins to come on the palate; ripe, round, opulent fruit followed by a very tannic finish. Unready, and typical of the rich but very tannic wines of the vintage. Certainly ripe and rich, but will it ever shed those tannins? Further cellaring or with food only.
