1èr Cru Classé, Margaux
Amber brick but with ruby core; sweet toasty mature aromas, with a definite VA lift – this wine seems to be heading out with a bang rather than a wimper; sweet entry, very fine, gentle fading intensity, yet still long, sound and lovely, though very mature. Later, some sweet honey-smoked-bacon aromas, the piquant acidity beginning to accentuate a slightly cracked up finish. Nonetheless, a very pleasurable wine. Drink up.
Tasted at our Château Margaux Vertical tasting, Tuesday 27th July 2004.
