1èr Cru Classé, Margaux
(Pillet-Will label)
Amber with yellow rim (though amazingly a noticeable red still in the wine when decanted), a touch ruddy in appearance; still fragrant – floral even and spicy, with earthy notes – sound; ripe, round, sound mid-palate, cracks up a little on the finish, but then delivers a lovely flavoury aftertaste. No faults. Just amazing (and a big thank you to David Patten who gifted the bottle to the group to taste – certainly a grand finale to a great tasting).
Tasted at our Château Margaux Vertical tasting, Tuesday 27th July 2004.
