Very deep opaque crimson with a striking velvet crimson rim; very sweet nose, cassis with a touch of dark cherry, oak evident, but everything seems in balance – a very primary nose; rich ripe, with good extract and acidity, ripe tannins and a long cassis note on the finish. Rich and primary – predict a good future.
Tasted at The Fine Wine Experience vertical tasting of Château Montrose, Tuesday 28th September 2004.
-----------
Crimson ruby; very sweet dark cherry and chocolate nose – very primary; ripe, full, round primary fruit-dominated on the palate, very tannic, yet quite supple in style. I like this. (N/R)
Tasted at the Institute of Masters of Wine Annual Claret tasting, 4th November 2004.
