Cru Bourgeois, Haut Médoc. 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 10% Caberent Franc.
A good healthy colour, ruby, showing development on the rim. Herbal Cabernet nose – very classic Médoc. Good classic palate of leafy Cabernet fruit, fairly taut structure – good acidity, and ripe tannins. A little austere in the finish, but well proportioned. This continued to open up during the course of the evening. Quite a surprise, and well-liked on the night. Drinking well, and with some life left – will hold.
Tasted at our '1985 Bordeaux Cru Classé' tasting, 21 October 2003.
