One of the wine events that helped establish California as a wine region worth watching and appreciating wine from was the “Judgment of Paris”. In fact, the impact went beyond just paving the way for California wines as winemakers across the world felt impowered. We’ve decided to do our own version of the “Judgment” for you here in Hong Kong. However, this time we will focus just on the reds, and more specifically, on two top Châteaux and two top wineries from California and taste their top wines over three decades, the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. All of the wines will be served blind, and we will rate them to determine which region preformed best for each decade and finally which region reigns supreme throughout.
Our “Judgment” will happen on 18 July, and you will be our judges along with Linden. The wines you will be tasting and rating are the following:
Château Leoville Las Cases 1982, 1996 and 2000
Château Cheval Blanc 1983, 1998, and 2003
Ridge Vineyards - Monte Bello 1984, 1996 and 2009
Joseph Phelps - Insignia 1985, 1994 and 2001
Come join us at the private room in the Grand Hyatt Steakhouse for this exciting wine competition. Who will be our winner: Bordeaux or California?
